“Audiences love you” 1/12/16 kudo from LI based comic Benny Rizutti during his Madhouse TV “GaGootz” show broadcast
01/9/16 “HITTING THE GONG ON THE HEAD” from the newspaper article entitled #”Will Hashtag Bar Trend With New Restaurant Partners?” reprinted from silive.com – aka the internet version of the “Staten Island Advance” by Ace-Reporter Lauren Steussy.
“These changes form the latest iteration of Hashtag Bar under owner Robert “Bobbybunz” Parker and his new partners, Joe Broadway’s owner Joe Polimeni and standup comedian Andy Nadler.”
Nadler, the third partner, will coordinate the standup comedy nights and weekday programming at Hashtag. He is, as Parker puts it, “an acquired taste.” Gaunt and abrasive with eyeglasses like telescopes, his appearance says “late ’80s,” but his impromptu headstands say “mid-20s.”
“Watching him go off on his rants is like laughing at the absurdity of that crazy old relative who says all the wrong things at the worst times over dinner,” said comedian Pauline Herveaux, who runs a weekly open mic night Mondays at Hashtag Bar.
Nadler will oversee some of the weekday entertainment, booking what he calls “quality” comic acts. He plans to introduce a “gong night” the last Tuesday of every month, in which the audience will have the chance to oust acts they don’t find funny.
“We’re not going to have people up there reading from their little notecards,” he said. “Let them do that in their living room.”
Nadler, whose stage name is Peter Pan, claims to have performed at more than 300 open mic nights, but will be the first to tell you he was kicked out of the scene in his native Queens after trying to stuff money down the shirt of woman at a comedy club. He said it was a joke. I asked if he’ll continue that type of humor at Hashtag Bar now that he’s a partner. He begins to respond before Parker steps in: “We’re gonna give him the gong if he does any of that.”
Nadler claims the S.I. standup community is the only one left that still accepts him, but even that is debatable. At an open mic event there last week, Herveaux took a rare moment to call him out after he tried to commandeer her emcee duties.
“He’s ruffled plenty of feathers but he’s also made plenty of people laugh, shake their heads or gape their mouths in disbelief,” she said. “Only time will tell — and maybe not much time considering he’s old for the comedy game and takes naps in his car in the middle of shows — if his insult humor will get him noticed or continue to get him blackballed.”
So why would someone like Nadler be welcomed into a partnership for a venue that has, for so many years, struggled to keep its doors open?
Parker was prepared to sell the space to a dollar store before Nadler stepped in with $330,000 — so, it’s more about the cash; not necessarily his sunny disposition.

4/16/15 Each artist brings a different artistic quality to the show, including Dan Zambrano, a filmmaker and production company owner based in NYC, who spent a year following a 65-year-old comedian from Queens for his documentary film project.“My documentary, Astoria Andy, was inspired by my next-door neighbor in Queens: Andrew Nadler,” Zambrano said. “I met Andy after moving to New York City in early 2013 and he was the first person I got to know on my block. One year later, I found out Andy was going to pursue his dream of stand-up comedy after his retirement. After filming his first twenty-minute gig, I was intrigued with his stage presence and knew he’d be a great subject for a documentary film. I really admired Andy’s perseverance: performing at over two-hundred open mics; each requiring hours upon hours of wait time just to get five minutes on stage. Andy’s persistence is the overarching theme of my documentary; in the actual events that unfold, along with my filmmaking process.” From the Steven’s Institute of Tchnology Student/Teacher Newsletter…

Thrown out of the Living Galery’s open mic on 2/3/15 for being insulting
2/7/15 An evening peppered with audience participation and great performers, we kicked off with regular Peter Pan, an insult comic who always shocks and amuses the audience by unabashedly berating and offending them. – See more at: http://mpiremagazine.tumblr.com/post/110597760740/m-pire-covers-the-nitty-gritty-open-mic#sthash.nv0FWyv1.dpuf/2 Thanks Sarah Webber to you and your photographer for covering the Open mic at Eva’s restaurant.
1/15 kind words from Mark as he introduced me to the crowd at Coffeed’s Wed open mic “and now the hardest-working man in show business, Peter Pan” Thanks Mark, I know you were grasping for the proper intro. : – anyway I’m not in show biz – Yet – and Stand-up is a whole lot easier than laying pipe as a Plumber’s Helper (28 yrs) and “chooching bags” as a Mailhandler in the Post Office (22 yrs). I am everyman.
1/13/15 Justin Howard’s open mic at the Shillelagh Tavern “We are not typically a comedy open mic, but we made an exception for Andy Nadler, better known as Peter Pan. He gave us 10 minutes of very amusing material, interacting well with the crowd.” – Thanks Justin
Thrown out of Legion Bar’s open mic on 1/11/15 for being sexist
“We began the night with a special act; a man named Peter Pan deliver some off the cuff comedy, engaging and interacting with the crowd. He got us nice and warmed up, and ready for more tunes.”
– Thank-you Justin Howard for running the 1/6/15 Tues. open mic at the Shillelagh Tavern. Why schlep when you can perform in your own neighborhood.
“The crowd was quaint and peppered with warm and welcoming regulars. The challenge of the evening was keeping the language family friendly with a unique “no cursing” rule. This was a fun and curious obstacle course for the comedians, especially insult comic Peter Pan who brought high energy and targeted attacks on the audience. Several other clever and controversial comics took the stage to the delight of the audience, including Dave Lester, Mike Gillerman, Calvin Cato and first-timer Yougene Chang.” – See more at: http://mpiremagazine.tumblr.com/post/107215646730/m-pire-magazine-covers-the-nitty-gritty-open-mic#sthash Thankyou Sarah Weber for your kind words referring to my 1/3/15 open mic performance at Eva’s Restaurant.
